Dimension your user plane tunnels and transport capacity with precise IP/UDP/GTP header calculations.
Awaiting Header Config
GTP-U (GPRS Tunnelling Protocol - User Plane) is used to carry user data across the core network and between the radio access network (RAN) and core. It adds a set of headers to every user packet, which significantly impacts the effective MTU and requires transport planning.
The primary protocol for user data. It consists of a fixed 8-byte header, but can be extended with variable-length extensions.
If the total size (Initial Packet + GTP + UDP + IP) exceeds the transport MTU (usually 1500B), fragmentation occurs, severely impacting throughput.
A 5G NR extension header used to carry QoS information (QFI) and Reflected QoS indicators, adding 4 bytes.
